Multi Strain Probiotic Blend

Probiotics enhance the immune response of the digestive tract. Lactic acid bacteria produce lactic acid which inhibits yeast growth by lowering intestinal pH and blocks the receptors or adhesion sites of pathogens, creating a barrier against infectious organisms. 10 billion allergen-free CFU (colony forming units) to defend against harmful gut bacteria by repopulating the digestive system with friendly bacteria.

Slippery Elm Bark

For hundreds of years, Native Americans have used Slippery Elm Bark for its beneficial and soothing properties. Slippery Elm is a large, deciduous tree native to Eastern North America known for its mucilaginous, strengthening, and nutritive properties. Slippery elm is a master demulcent. It exerts a soothing effect on mucous membranes of digestive, respiratory, and urinary tracts. It is also used for protecting against stomach and duodenal ulcers, for colitis, diverticulitis, GI inflammation and acidity.

L-Glutamine Amino Acid

A component of healthy connective tissue and mucous membranes, it supports healthy mucous membranes and linings in the respiratory and digestive tracts, nutritionally supports healthy digestion and is indicated for leaky gut management. L-Glutamine is an amino acid that is essential in the healing of leaky gut. It supports the strength of the mucosal lining and the proper functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and acts as a protector against the irritants that cause inflammation.

Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice

Licorice root, which is considered one of the world’s oldest herbal remedies, comes from the root of the licorice plant. Licorice Root/DGL is a form of licorice that is safe for those with high blood pressure as it has the glycyrrhizin constituent removed. It benefits gastric mucosa by improving circulation, secretion of protective layer, and supporting growth of new mucosal cells.

Larch Arabinogalactan

Prebiotic Larch Arabinogalactan is a Larch tree extract that supports colon health. It is often used as an effective adjunct to cancer therapies due to its ability to stimulate the immune system and block metastasis of tumor cells. Its uses in people include chronic fatigue syndrome, viral hepatitis, HIV/ AIDS, and autoimmune diseases. It is also commonly used for infections.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera is known for its healing effects on the skin and intestinal tract. Its primary internal use is for constipation or soothing the GI. In humans, it has been shown to help with several digestion-related issues. Topically Aloe Vera gel is used for minor burns, wound healing, and dermatitis. Aloe Vera is naturally rich in amino acids, enzymes, vitamin C, and a wide range of minerals.

Adored Beast Apothecary’s founder, homeopath Julie Anne Lee, is here to answer your questions. Her life’s work is to help all animals live healthier, happier, longer lives.

Horses with any type of inflammatory issues can benefit from the support that EGS provides. Horses that may benefit from this type of support include those with recurrent colic, gastric ulcers, oral disease, equine asthma (COPD), laminitis or any other inflammatory issue. Additionally, horses that need to have antibiotics or NSAIDs (eg. Bute) will benefit from this product.

We always recommend starting with ¼ of the recommended dose and slowly working up to the full dose over a 1-2 week period. Because EGS doesn’t contain any fillers, the full dose is very small and often goes unnoticed, even by the pickiest equines!

Equine gut soothe is safe for most horses. You should consult with your veterinarian if your horse is taking medications or if you are planning to breed your mare to make sure EGS is safe for them.

EGS is a perfect addition to the recovery plan if antibiotics need to be administered. When you give antibiotics, this kills the bad bacteria in the gut, but it also kills a lot of good bacteria in the gut too. EGS is a wonderful way to help restore you horse’s gut post-antibiotic treatment by replenishing the microbiome. We recommend starting Equine Gut Soothe once your horse has finished their antibiotic medication.

Species-appropriate probiotics are friendly bacteria that have been isolated from the specific species they are intended for. In the case of our Equine Gut Soothe, we are proud to offer the first equine-isolated strain on the market.

EGS is a proprietary blend of herbs, nutraceuticals and species-specific pre and probiotics that repair and support the mucosal linings of the gastro-intestinal tract, the respiratory tract, bladder wall, reproductive canal, oral cavity, the pulmonary system and more. These mucosa are the “home” of the precious microbiome and without a healthy mucosa, the microbiome cannot establish correctly. EGS helps to not only repair the mucosal linings but also to replenish the microbiome too, providing countless health benefits (see above).

We often suggest, if there are concerns regarding pharmaceutical-type medications, giving Gut Soothe 1 -2 hours after the drug so it's had adequate time to absorb. This is because research suggests that the mucilage content in marshmallow root creates a protective layer on the lining of the digestive tract, the same as slippery elm. This mucilage traps and absorbs water, forming a gel-like substance that can coat mucous membranes, providing short-term relief of pain and inflammation. There is also thought that this may affect nutrient absorption.

If you have a concern, give Gut Soothe in some bone broth or kefir, away from medications.
